TRAVIS SCOTT NIKE: THE CACTUS JACK COLLABORATION
THE ORIGINS OF RAPPER TRAVIS SCOTT
Born in Houston, Texas, in 1992, Travis Scott developed a passion for music at a young age, thanks to his jazz composer grandfather and musician father. At 16, he began rapping and eventually adopted the pseudonym Travis Scott after his favorite uncle. Discovered by rapper TI in 2012, Scott's career took off.
CACTUS JACK'S RISE: FROM EMBERS TO FLAMES
With TI's support, Travis Scott released his first EP "Owl Pharaoh" in 2013, followed by a mixtape "Days Before Rodeo" in 2014, which garnered attention from the media and industry insiders. His first studio album "Rodeo" was released in 2015, and his unique style blending electronic influences and catchy melodies quickly led to critical and commercial success. He became known by various nicknames, including "La Flame" and "Cactus Jack".
In 2016, Scott released his second album "Birds in The Trap Sing McKnight," followed by several solo and collaborative projects. His 2018 album "ASTROWORLD" further solidified his position as a rap icon.
TRAVIS SCOTT X NIKE: BEYOND AMERICAN RAP
A fashion enthusiast, Travis Scott has a keen interest in luxury and streetwear. His first collaboration was with Helmut Lang in 2017. He went on to collaborate with Nike, creating a pair of Air Force 1s in 2017, followed by a reissued Sail version in 2018 and the renowned Jordan 1.
NIKE TRAVIS SCOTT JORDAN
A devoted fan of the Air Jordan brand, Scott customized the Air Jordan Trunner LX model for his personal use. He continued collaborating on various Jumpman brand models:
-
In 2018, the Air Jordan 4 "Cactus Jack" with its electric blue upper, released in multiple "Friends and Family" versions: Purple, Grey, and Nike Air.
-
In 2019, the Air Jordan 1 Travis Scott "Cactus Jack" featuring a taupe-colored base and reverse swoosh. The model was released in limited quantities during the Grammy Awards ceremony in February, followed by a streetwear collection.
The Air Jordan 33 NRG "Army Olive" was also released in February, with more models expected in the future, including a Jordan 6, two new Jordan 1s, and another Nike Air Force 1. As Houston's ambassador of arts and education, Travis Scott's future is bright, and he is poised to leave a lasting impact on the worlds of music and fashion.
